The increasing number of older adults in Indonesia, particularly in Kolaka Regency, has created a growing need for facilities that promote health, well-being, and social participation. This study aims to design an Elderly School as a non-formal educational facility using a biophilic architectural approach. The design process employed a qualitative method through literature reviews, site analysis, and the application of biophilic design principles. The proposed design integrates natural elements to create a comfortable and supportive learning environment for older adults. Biophilic principles are applied through the use of natural lighting, natural ventilation, green open spaces, and visual connections with vegetation. The building layout is arranged to improve environmental comfort while considering accessibility, safety, and the physical characteristics of older users. Vegetation is also utilized to enhance the microclimate and strengthen the relationship between users and nature. The design results indicate that the application of biophilic architecture can contribute to the creation of a healthy, inclusive, and user-oriented educational environment. The proposed facility is expected to improve the quality of life of older adults and support the development of SMART elderly (Healthy, Independent, Active, Productive, and Dignified) communities.
