Muna Creative Center with an Emphasis on Contemporary Architecture

Abstract

Muna Regency holds considerable potential in the cultural and creative economy sectors; however, this potential is not yet supported by adequate infrastructure. The design of the Muna Creative Center represents a strategic step toward providing a dedicated facility for creative communities and innovative young people. The application of contemporary architecture combined with local cultural elements can enhance the building’s attractiveness and functionality through flexible spatial configurations. The design process was conducted through literature studies, field observations, user-needs analysis, and evaluations of contemporary architectural principles. The design visualization incorporates local elements, including woven textile motifs, traditional kite geometry, and prehistoric pictographs from Liang Kabori Cave, which are applied harmoniously to the secondary skin to strengthen the building’s contemporary architectural expression. The Muna Creative Center is intended not only as a venue for creative activities but also as a new landmark that represents architectural development while maintaining respect for the vernacular identity of Muna Regency.
