This study aimed to analyze the effects of workload and job stress on employee performance at KPPBC TMP Tanjung Emas, with work motivation as a mediating variable. Data were collected through questionnaires administered to 100 employees of KPPBC TMP Tanjung Emas who had previously been involved in the physical inspection of imported goods. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS software. The results indicated that workload had a negative effect on work motivation, while job stress also had a negative effect on work motivation. Work motivation had a positive effect on employee performance. Workload had a negative but statistically insignificant direct effect on employee performance, whereas job stress had a significant negative direct effect on employee performance. Furthermore, work motivation mediated the negative effects of both workload and job stress on employee performance.
